Wendell
Henry Rawlings
August 21,
1921 - July 7, 2012
Wendell was
born in Logan,
Utah, the 4th child
of Henry H. & Theresa S. Rawlings.
He was raised on the Henry Rawlings farm in Fairview, Franklin County, Idaho. He attended Elementary School in Fairview, Idaho, Junior
High in Preston, and graduated from Preston High School
in 1939.
Wendell
served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the
Southern States Mission. In 1954,
Wendell married Muriel Johnson Wiser.
That same year he graduated from BYU with a degree in Speech
Therapy. Wendell and Muriel raised 5
chidren. Wendell served faithfully in
many capacities in the LDS church including
Bishop in the Fairview Ward. He and Muriel served two Temple
missions for the LDS Church as well as serving as Temple
workers in the Salt Lake City Temple
for 13 years. He lived in Fairview, Idaho; North Logan, Utah; Salt Lake City,
Utah;
Littleton,
Colorado
and Logan, Utah.
Wendell is
survived by his wife Muriel, and sons, David W.( Tamra )Rawlings, North Logan,
Utah; Ervin J.(Amiee) Rawlings, Highlands Ranch, Colorado; LeGrand J.(Karen)
Rawlings, American Fork, Utah, daughter, Camille R.(Tony) Hekking, West Valley
City, Utah, daughter-in-law Analee Carlin Wiser, 18 grandchildren and 16
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his
mother and father, Henry H. Rawlings & Theresa S. Rawlings, infant sister
Phyllis Rawlings, brother’s Glen S. Rawlings and Ben E. Rawlings, son Lorin M.
Wiser and 3 grandchildren, Amelia C. Wiser, Aaron M. Wiser, and Adam G.
Rawlings.
A viewing
will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Larkin Mortuary,
260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah.
A 2nd viewing will be held prior to the funeral service on
Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the LDS Chapel, 1850 North
400 East, North Logan, Utah. Funeral
services will follow at noon. Interment
will be at the Logan
City
Cemetery
in Logan Utah.
The family
wishes to express a heart-felt thanks to the staff at Sunshine Terrace for the
tender care they gave Wendell these last two years.
